Passionflower Fruit
Passionflower fruit - August, 2013
Blossoms from this Ozarks native vine get most of the attention, but their sole purpose is to produce fruit - and seeds - for the next generation of the plant. This specimen was particularly robust, with several fruits the size of large plums.
Excellent monograph on this Ozarks native species can be found here: http://www.stevenfoster.com/education/monograph/pflower.html
