"Farmer's headache, butterfly's treat" - B&W rendering

In a hot, dry summer thistle is one of the few spots of bright color in the pasture. The problem is they hardly ever show up just one at a time, and they'll take over grazing areas when nothing else will grow. I didn't set out to pursue this image as something that would work for black-and-white, but hate to argue with serendipity.

Once again, obviously none of these concerns are a problem for the butterfly...
