Can't Rain All The Time

Sunset peeking under the edge of a storm front that brought torrential rains to the area in the spring of 2011. Right behind heavy rainfall, the air was calm and still. Water droplets were hanging from everything. For 10 minutes of almost perfect light, everything above the ground was covered with liquid sunlight.

We must have gotten most of summer's allotment of rain early that year, because two months later we were settling in to the first of two of the hardest summertime droughts seen in this part of the world for years.

Lower image from the morning of June 1st 2013, after spring thunderstorms demolished the barn, as well as damaging several other homes and many trees in the area.<br /> <br /> Thankfully, nobody was injured.

The difference between "artistic liberties" and "photoshop crime" is a matter of personal judgement. It worked for me. :)
  • Patchy rain showers during the past couple of days made for spectacular atmospheric effects late in the day.<br /> <br /> "Crepuscular rays" (is the technical term, but there's something about the word that just sucks all the magnificence out of this phenomenon.
