  • Ogden Schoolhouse - Madison County, AR<br /> <br /> Located approximately 0.4 miles east from the Intersection of AR Highway 23 and Madison Co road 3105, or about 15 miles SE of Huntsville. The Ogden Cemetery is on the opposite side of Madison 3105 a bit further east.<br /> <br /> DSC_0770

  • Dripping Springs Schoolhouse - Located about 4.25 miles north of Boston, AR via Madison Co 3175 to 3415, then SE on Madison Co 3500, just past the intersection of Madison Co 3415 / 3500. Built in 1921, and still hanging on.<br /> <br /> The building has seen better days. The isolated location, proximity to a popular swimming hole on the upper Kings River and the nearby Kings River Falls Natural Area are mixed blessings -- it's easy to drive to, but the schoolhouse and remaining outbuildings are occasional targets for vandalism.<br /> <br /> L1010534
  • Dripping Springs Schoolhouse (b&w rendering) - Located about 4.25 miles north of Boston, AR via Madison Co 3175 to 3415, then SE on Madison Co 3500, just past the intersection of Madison Co 3415 / 3500. Built in 1921, and still hanging on.<br /> <br /> The building has seen better days. The isolated location, proximity to a popular swimming hole on the upper Kings River and the nearby Kings River Falls Natural Area are mixed blessings -- it's easy to drive to, but the schoolhouse and remaining outbuildings are occasional targets for vandalism.
  • Remnants of entryway and bell tower - Salem Community School, Fayetteville AR.<br /> <br /> Community efforts to stabilize the Salem Community School in NW Fayetteville couldn't outrun the severe ice storm that swept through the area in January 2009, and later fire damage destroyed any remaining hopes of salvaging the building. Listed as one of 2007's "Most Endangered Places" by the Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas in April of that same year, the building was already in trouble prior to the record-setting storm.<br /> <br /> More information available here: <a href="http://www.preservearkansas.org/index.php?page=2007-list#Salem">http://www.preservearkansas.org/index.php?page=2007-list#Salem</a>
  • Mt. Hebron Methodist Church - former town of Colville, AR.<br /> <br /> Located roughly midway between Lowell and Cave Springs, north of AR 264 on Mt. Hebron Rd.<br /> <br /> Early springtime storm clouds and late afternoon lighting show off this 1904-vintage structure at its best. As new housing construction along the I-540 corridor encroaches from all sides, this last vestige of the town of Colville continues to bear witness to the tremendous change in lifestyle and population unfolding throughout Northwest Arkansas.<br /> <br /> This building and adjacent cemetery are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
