Fire pink (Silene virginica)
Near Pettigrew, AR - Late June, 2014
Also known as "catchfly" because the stem and flower are covered with incredibly sticky stuff. Not exactly rare in the NW Arkansas Ozarks, but just uncommon enough to be hard to find in full bloom, with good lighting, when you've got a camera handy. This native wildflower is a popular nectar source for Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds.
